Our Seniors Expression Project was a year-long project funded in part by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program. Headed by a committee composing mostly of seniors, it enabled participants to express a personal view of community life through photography. Seniors learned the art of the digital medium through workshops and the creation of a photographic collage as well as shared inspiring stories through portraits and oral histories curated as an exhibition for the 2013 CONTACT Photography Festival.
The participants had a chance to express themselves through oral histories and accounts, sharing stories to inspire younger generations. The project was a resounding success and we are very proud to be able to provide support and programs for our seniors. Their voices and stories are below. Check them out!
