2016 marks the 20th anniversary since Black History Month was first officially celebrated by the Government of Canada. The month-long celebration was formally recognized following a motion introduced in the House of Commons by the first black Canadian woman elected to Parliament, the Honourable Jean Augustine. Black History month is intended to recognize and remember the ways in which black Canadian’s have played defining roles in Canada’s history.
In honor of Black History Month, we are having a Children’s drawing contest. First prize receives a $25 Indigo gift card. Open to children ages 8-12.
