Afterschool programming at University Settlement offers social-recreational activities that provide children with opportunities to build skills, confidence and community. Program staff are High Five™ trained, have a high level of knowledge and expertise in positive child development, and have CPR and First Aid certification.
We’ve made a number of changes to our afterschool programs to protect the children in our care and our staff from COVID-19.
Each school day from September through June, our trained staff provide safe walking escorts from Orde Street and Ogden public schools to University Settlement. After screening and handwashing, children receive nutritious snacks before participating in Active Games, and Arts and Crafts.
3:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Children escorted to 23 Grange Road.
4:00 pm to 4:15 pm
Children are screened, wash their hands and receive a nutritious snack.
4:15 pm to 5:45 pm
Physical activity is always welcome after a day at school. Fun games, such as What Time is it Mr. Wolf?, Octopus, and Barnyard help kids learn and practice fair play, honesty and teamwork while developing gross and fine motor skills and enhancing hand/eye coordination. Games also promote the development of positive, healthy lifestyles.
Children participate in a variety of arts and crafts activities designed to help them express their creativity, improve their dexterity, and promote problem solving and perseverance.
