Annual General Meeting

Each year, University settlement hosts an Annual General Meeting of members in June. This year we are adding a guest speaker to our AGM Agenda. Mary Rowe is Vice President & Managing Director of MAS, an advocacy organization working to promote the livability and resilience of New York City.

Mary will talk about the importance of vitality, cultural vibrancy, environmental sustainability and social diversity as well as different approaches which need to be taken that consider social, economic, cultural and environmental factors.

Join us as our Moneywise Veggie Chef program continues! This program  combines healthy meal preparation with financial literacy. In collaboration with Toronto Public Health, Consolidated Credit Counseling Service and St. Christopher House, participants in the program cook and serve a wonderful and nutritious vegetarian lunch at our 23 Grange Road location.

For only $3 you will be able to buy a healthy lunch and help our program grow!

We’re celebrating Father’s Day with our Seniors and you’re invited! If you are an older adult and would like to join us, please give us a call or come in and see us. This celebration honors fathers and celebrates fatherhood, paternal bonds and the influence of fathers in society. Our office is located at 23 Grange Road and we are open from 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday. Student Concerts

The End of Term concerts will take place the second week of June with three performances scheduled. These concerts are held at St.George the Martyr Church.

Saturday, June 22nd at 2:15pm

The End of Year recital will take place at University Settlement, 23 Grange Road, in the Auditorium. The set time for the recital is 2:15pm. We hope that you can join us!

Summer term registration opens to all students – new and returning – on Monday June 3rd! The term is 6 weeks long and starts the week of July 8th. We are pleased to offer private lessons in the following instruments: piano, violin, viola, beginner cello, clarinet, saxophone, guitar and percussion.

Registration may be done either in person at the Music and Arts School Office or by phone (Visa or Mastercard only). Each student must pay a $20 registration fee, payable once per school year at the initial time of registration, and a $10 Agency Membership fee in addition to any additional program costs.

University Settlement

You are cordially invited to attend and participate in the business of the 2012 Annual General Meeting (AGM) and the election of members to the Board of Directors. The 2012 Annual General Meeting of University Settlement will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. in the Auditorium.

We will be electing five members to the Board of Directors for three-year terms at this meeting and we are looking for suitable candidates. We are looking for individuals who will bring not only new ideas and energy, but who can also commit their time and talent.  Attached is the Nominating Form. The deadline for the submission of Nomination Forms is Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. We will be appointing or reappointing an auditor and authorizing the directors to fix their remuneration.

Please note that, for the purposes of the 2012 Annual General Meeting, eligible voters are only those members who were:
i) in good standing on Thursday, June 6, 2013, or
ii) in good standing for 2012 and renew their 2013 membership prior to the commencement of the 2012 Annual General Meeting.

The membership fee for 2013 is $10.00 for adult and a special senior/youth rate of $5.00.  Refreshments and an opportunity to meet the candidates standing for election to the Board of Directors will be at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2013.

If you cannot come to the meeting, you may exercise your right to vote by completing and signing the enclosed Proxy Form and delivering it to University Settlement either by (i) mail received at 23 Grange Road, Toronto, Ontario, M5T 1C3 Attention: Aisha Green, no later than Monday, June 17, 2013 or (ii) delivery at the meeting. Registration for proxy and voting will start at 6:00p.m. before the Annual General Meeting.  In accordance with the University Settlement By-Laws, a proxy may only be held by an alternate person who is eighteen (18) years or older, with a limit of one proxy per alternate.

We are very pleased to have Mary Rowe provide a key note address at our Annual Meeting. Mary is Vice President & Managing Director of the Municipal Art Society of New York City, a century-old advocacy organization working to promote the livability and resilience of New York City.
