Our key asset at University Settlement is our staff. We employ approximately 150 full time and part time staff in diverse roles including settlement services, community development, child care, aquatics, recreation, English language instruction, music and dance and administration. We recruit our staff based on their expertise, knowledge and skills in their respective fields of service. Patricia joined the University Settlement team in November 2014 as its Executive Director. A skilled senior executive with more than 30 years’ experience in social services, she has provided leadership to a number of not-for-profit, chartiable organizations concerned with the provision of services for vulnerable populations and social justice issues. Patricia has her BA and BSW from York University and an MSW from the University of Toronto and is an ardent advocate of evidence-based practice. She is a Registered Social Worker and a Paul Harris Fellow and when not engaged in social service activities, is an urban farmer and passionate cook and baker.

Ray brings a wealth of leadership and financial expertise and experience to University Settlement gained through a 33 year career leading similar organizations and agencies in government, charitiy and not-for-profit sectors. In addition to the Finance portfolio, Ray was appointed Executive Director effective May 26, 2014 on an interim basis. He serves as Chair of the Board of the East York Foundation and is Chair of the Board at the Leaside Memorial Community Gardens Board of Management. A dedicated hockey coach, Ray has been involved in minor hockey for over 19 years also serving as an executive, tournament organizer and hockey school instructor.
Director, Language and Settlement & Social Services
Behnaz has joined University Settlement in 2009 as the Manager of Settlement Services. She is experienced in working with immigrants and refugees from around the world. She has the passion to work with newcomers to Canada since she has been a newcomer herself. Most recently she has taken up the role of Director for Language and Settlement & Social Services.

Ida has the distinction of being one of the few staff members who have been with University Settlement for over 20 years! She is a graduate of the Institute of Child Study at the University of Toronto and has been the Director of the Day Care since 1986. Ida and her staff are committed to ensuring that the Day Care serves as a second home for the children in their care. In her spare time, Ida enjoys hiking and taking on home improvement projects.

Ted brings a wealth of knowledge to University Settlement with over 30 years experience in managing recreation facilities. Former Director of the JCC of Toronto, he is a champion badminton player and loves to play anything from chess to floor hockey. Ask Ted about floating homes when you see him!
Manager, Music and Arts School

Victoria has worked as the voice instructor at University Settlement since September 2013 and as the Manager of the Music and Arts school since August 2014. She has a Master of Music degree from the New England Conservatory of Music. Victoria has years of experience both as a performer and as a teacher. In her spare time she enjoys reading, dancing and archery.

Lien joined University Settlement in early spring of 2014 as the Finance Manager. She is a CPA, CGA with more than 15 years of experience in finance, including several years in the not-for-profit sector. Lien brings with her a wealth of skills and knowledge to the team.

Toby is a social worker with over 30 years of practice with people experiencing homelessness. Toby has been an educator and public speaker on issues of homelessness, and has been on the team of multiple award winning projects for innovation in service delivery. In 2016 Toby completed training as an artist blacksmith at the Haliburton School for Art and Design and is found busy at the forge when not at work.
