Welcome to University Settlement’s Weekend Emergency Shelter Program. We offer emergency based shelter on Saturday and Sunday nights to those who find themselves in need. We offer shelter as well as snacks, dinner and breakfast. Beds are on a first come first, served basis.

Available services include meals, accommodations, and shower facilities during program hours, a social worker to provide counselling and referrals to other services including medical and housing. We are open from 5:30 pm to 6:30 am on Saturday and Sunday.

There are over 5,000 homeless individuals in Toronto; more than 400 sleeping outside on an average night and both of these numbers continue to grow. In 1997, University Settlement saw the need that was growing in our community and responded by providing Toronto’s only year-round, secular weekend shelter to men, women and couples in downtown Toronto. Homeslessness will continue to be a priority issue for Canada’s urban centres for the foreseeable future.

NEW Hours of Operation
Saturday 5:30pm – Sunday 6:30am
Sunday 5:30pm – Monday 6:30am

The Weekend Emergency Shelter is no longer accepting clothing donations of any kind

Corporate

Like many non-profit organizations we really depend on the generosity of our donors and volunteers. As a corporate donor, you have the opportunity to contribute to your community while also getting involved and letting the public know that you care about making Toronto a more livable city for everyone. In addition, as a registered charitable organization, University Settlement is able to provide tax receipts for all eligible donations, including both financial and in kind gifts.

For businesses both big and small, we can give you an opportunity to make a real difference in your community. And if you’d like to see the impact your donation makes, please contact us and we can arrange for a group of your staff to come out and volunteer for the night to see the program and the difference it makes every day.

xWinter Relief – Dinner Only
From the first Saturday in November to the last Sunday in March dinner will be provided on a first come, first served basis to all individuals in need not staying the night. Please come by on Saturday and Sunday from 7:00pm – 9:00pm.
