Dance Teacher


Born and raised in Hong Kong, Estelle Tang is an honours graduate of the Dance Performance Diploma Program at George Brown College, where she studied various dance styles, acting and vocals. She was previously enrolled at Jean M. Wong School of Ballet (Hong Kong), PSB & Interplay School of Dance (Toronto), and Joffrey Ballet School Summer Intensive (USA), training in the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and Cecchetti methods of classical ballet. She has performed in ballets such as Cinderella and Coppelia, while also taking part in contemporary pieces and outdoor improvisation shows with the local dance company, The Parahumans. Estelle has collaborated with notable choreographers Derek Sangster, Hanna Kiel, Sharon Moore and Dave Wilson. She is also currently a choreographer for George Brown Dance’s Ensemble Program. In creation, she draws inspiration from many media, such as instrumental music, animated films and video games. She is currently continuing to develop her artistry as a mentee with Canada’s Ballet Jörgen.

Estelle is dedicated to inclusive arts education and providing a safe, nurturing environment for all to learn, explore and create to their hearts’ content. Besides her professional training, she also brings years of experience assisting for the Dance Ability Movement, providing customized support to learners of all abilities.

Outside of dance, as a Taekwondo 3rd Dan black belt recruited by the Hong Kong Team, her career highlights include 2 Golds at Asian Cities Championships and Bronze at China Nationals. She continues to practice martial arts for the movement quality and grounded mentality it brings to her performing and teaching practices. She is also passionate about mental wellness. She is trained in SafeTALK and ASIST – mental health first aid – and is a member of CAMH’s National Youth Action Council.
