Biography

Susan Kohlhepp has been teaching art and music classes for over three decades. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University, majoring in Early Childhood Education and minoring in Child Psychology. Susan began studying at The Royal Conservatory, earning her Early Childhood Music Certificate. As a Montessori teacher for many years, she incorporated music and art into her classroom. Continuing at the RCM she studied the Orff method of teaching music which incorporates voice, movement, rhythm instruments, and fun. She also studied piano at the conservatory and earned her grade 10 certificate from The Royal Conservatory of Music.

Susan is an art and music teacher who focuses on bringing the joy of art and music to all of the children she works with. She has run art and music camps for over a decade for children aged four to twelve. She continues to teach art classes and piano lessons to many students in her home studio, giving them an array of art materials so that they are able to put their imagination onto paper.

Susan has dedicated her life to working with children and supporting them as they grow as musicians (babies too) and artists. She looks forward to her time teaching music and art classes at University Settlement.
