Virtual Safety Classes

Classes designed by the Red Cross and the Lifesaving Society

Safety classes that will help children and youth build valuable life skills

Online via Zoom: All classes are offered via Zoom. Every week you will receive an email with a link to join the class. All you need is a device with video capabilities – such as a smartphone, tablet or laptop and a strong internet connection.

Subsidy Available: Between 30% to 70% subsidy for all programs is available to qualifying families. Please apply for a subsidy when you complete your online registration.

Red Cross Classes

Stay Safe (for Kids Ages 9-13)

Do you have a tween or teen who is getting ready to stay home alone for short periods of time? The Red Cross Stay Safe course provides kids with basic training in accident prevention, safety and first aid to help them build confidence and independence.

Duration: 3 weeks / 3 hours per week
Dates: Wednesday June 2, 9, 16
Time: 5 pm to 8 pm
Fee: $60 (Manual included. Available for curbside pickup.)

Babysitting (for Youth Ages 12-14)

Do you have a teen who wants to earn some extra money by babysitting? The Red Cross Babysitting course offers basic training in first aid, care giving and leadership skills. Participants learn how to supervise children in a variety of age groups, prevent and respond to emergencies, manage difficult behaviours, and the professional conduct expected from a babysitter.

Duration: 3 weeks / 3 hours per week
Dates: Wednesday June 2, 9, 16
Time: 5 pm to 8 pm
Fee: $60 (Manual included. Available for curbside pickup.)

Lifesaving Society Classes

Summer Water Safety for Families (Free!)

This course is designed for families to take together. Every week we will work through a new topic and worksheet to learn about how to be safe around water. Worksheets will be emailed to participants every week.

Duration: 3 weeks / 90 minutes per week
Dates: Thursday, June 3, 10, 17
Time: 6 pm to 7:30 pm

Emergency First Aid & CPR (for Everyone Ages 13 and up)

This 3-day intensive courses offers CPR-B certification and is recognized by Ontario’s Workplace Safety & Insurance Board.

Gain knowledge of first aid principles and the emergency treatment of injuries. Skills include: victim assessment, CPR, choking and what to do for external bleeding, heart attack, stroke wounds and burns.

Excellent training for people seeking summer camp and playground employment and the general public. After successfully completing the course, you will receive a certification card.

You will receive a basic first aid kit and a personal inflatable CPR head for practicing.

Duration: 3 days
Date: Thursday June 3 (5 pm to 9 pm), Friday June 4 (5 pm to 9 pm), Saturday June 5 (9 am to 12 pm)
Time: 5 pm to 6:30 pm
Fee: $70 (Kit and practice CPR device included. Available for curbside pickup.)

Curbside Pickup

All course kits and materials are included in the fee and are available for curbside pickup. You must arrange a specific pickup time to ensure we are keeping everyone safe and adhering to Toronto Public Health guidelines.
