Laraine Herzog

Laraine Herzog is a Piano Teacher and Chamber Program Coach at University Settlement’s Music & Arts School. Laraine Herzog has been teaching piano part-time at University Settlement’s Music & Arts School since 2003. Her students have consistently achieved First-Class Honours in RCM piano exams and quite a few have earned Settlement scholarships as well as awards from local music festivals. Laraine was nominated for the RCM’s Best Teacher Award for 2011.

Biography

Laraine Herzog has been teaching piano part-time at University Settlement’s Music & Arts School since 2003. Her students have consistently achieved First-Class Honours in RCM piano exams and quite a few have earned Settlement scholarships as well as awards from local music festivals. Laraine was nominated for the RCM’s Best Teacher Award for 2011.

Laraine received her Bachelor of Music degree (summa cum laude) from California State University at Humboldt, where she was also the Piano and Chamber Music Accompanist for the Music Department. She also has an Artist Diploma in Piano Performance from University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music and a Licentiate (LRAM) Piano Teacher’s Diploma from the Royal Academy of Music in London, England.

Laraine also enjoys an active career as an arts administrator and has worked for many years at Roy Thomson Hall where she manages the Free Noon-Hour Choir & Organ Concert series and coordinates the Share the Music arts & education outreach events – a program that provides free tickets to youth for concerts and workshops. Many music students from the Settlement have attended Share the Music events over the years.
