We employ approximately 140 full- and part-time staff who are dedicated to serving people from diverse communities and to strengthening the reputation of University Settlement as a leading community-based agency.

Our Leadership Team

Raymond White, Executive Director

Ray is a seasoned non-profit executive and dedicated thought-leader with 30 years of progressively senior experience managing leading, and growing organizations. Ray has a proven track record of success and professional achievements. He is skilled at leading transformational change. His integrity, resilience, and considerable skill in governance matters and managing people have consistently delivered results. Ray is happiest when celebrating others’ achievements as he believes that teamwork and employees are the real keys to success. Because of this, Ray has been and still is a great mentor to many aspiring leaders. His leadership, people management skills, and strategic thinking are indispensable.

Beata Golec (CPA, CGA), Director of Finance

Beata’s experience in financial management extends across the corporate and non-profit sectors. She has been responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial operations, including day-to-day operations and setting up processes and procedures. Prior to joining University Settlement, Beata was Finance Manager at Habitat for Humanity, Accountant at Shepherd’s Care Foundation, and Controller for an international wine company headquartered in Italy. She is a Board Member and Co-Treasurer of the Glenview Senior Public School Council.

Ida Bertolini, Director of Daycare

A graduate of the Institute of Child Study at the University of Toronto, Ida has been the Director of the Day Care since 1986. She remains committed to ensuring that the children enrolled there regard University Settlement’s Day Care as their second home. Ida has been a member of staff for more than 35 years.

Victoria Medeiros, Managing Director, Music and Arts School

Victoria is an experienced arts administrator, and classically trained musician and performer. Prior to becoming Managing Director of the Music & Arts School in 2014, she was a voice instructor at the School. Victoria is a passionate supporter of community music and its ability to inspire, encourage and build potential. She holds a Master of Music in voice performance from the New England Conservatory of Music.

Kate Mossop, Director of Community Programming

Kate brings a breadth of community recreation, program development, and grassroot civic engagement to her role. With her experience building intergenerational partnerships, collaborations with community groups, and supporting unique communities, she looks forward to bringing diverse groups together to bring exciting programs to life, thus enhancing both individual lived experiences and building resilient communities. Kate graduated from York University’s Faculty of Education with a Master’s in Leadership and Community Engagement and holds a BA in Gerontology. Life is complete with action and adventure is part of her mantra. In her downtime, Kate can be found in the swimming pool, baking cupcakes, and travelling with friends and family.

Arunthathy Ratnasingham, Director, Language, Settlement and Social Services

Arunthathy brings a wealth of experience in policy development, systems implementation, research, and advocacy. She is committed to raising awareness about ethnic minorities, promoting diversity, equity, reconciliation, and tolerance. She is a skilled senior executive with more than 20 years’ experience anticipating social trends; managing growth and change through creativity, innovation, and vision; implementing internal controls to ensure adherence to compliance; and minimizing organizational risk. She has advised governments, UN agencies, ICRC and national societies on education, sustainable development, human rights, and international humanitarian law. She is a trained public opinion researcher and was a member of the World Association for Public Opinion Research. She holds a Bachelor’s and a PGD in Applied Sociology and possesses multilingual language abilities. In her down time, Arunthathy is an avid reader, gardener, traveler, and a passionate cook.

Priyanka Bakhshi, Manager, Development and Communications

Priyanka Bakhshi has been associated with the non-profit sector for the past 15 years. She has a PhD, and an MBA with dual specialization in marketing and human resource management. Her current portfolio includes the development and implementation of comprehensive marketing, communications, and fundraising programs and managing relations with agency’s external stakeholders relating to funding and revenue generation. With her experience in advocacy, writing, strategy formulation and fundraising she looks forward to creating engagement for University Settlement that broadens the donor base and builds a culture of philanthropy for the organization.

Oladipupo Sokunbi, IT Manager

Oladipupo is an experienced and certified IT Professional, Helpdesk specialist and IT Training consultant with over 20 years’ experience in the IT industry. Driven by service excellence, he takes pride in ensuring outstanding service delivery whenever possible. As the IT Manager his roles include IT administration, Helpdesk Support, Project management and IT policy implementation. In addition to his primary job function, Oladipupo has been recognized by his colleagues for his extraordinary commitment to his work.

Oswaldo Sosa, HR Manager

Oswaldo has over 18 years of experience as a Human Resources Professional with global companies. He has been a strategic leader with multicultural experiences that have helped build positive workplace culture, organization transformation, and change management. He is passionate to help others and become a trusted advisor, with genuine curiosity, the highest standards, and a strong desire to continuously learn and grow. He holds a Master’s degree in Human Resources Management from York University, also has a Specialization in Information Systems Management, and a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Relations.

In his spare time, he likes to build airplane models, read a good book or watch Football or Baseball, and soon, some Hockey games.

Dora Sarmiento Espinosa, has a proven track record of growth within the organization, Dora’s journey is a testament to her dedication and expertise. From her early roles, she has risen to a crucial position, ensuring financial integrity and operational excellence. Dora’s commitment to her work and collaborative spirit inspires colleagues and contributes to the organization’s success, embodying University Settlement’s values.
