University Settlement Statement on Anti-Asian Racism

University Settlement is dedicated to fostering a culture of acceptance, equality and anti-discrimination. We call on each and every one of us to stand up against racial prejudice and discrimination.

Many have used the pandemic as a vehicle for inciting racist, sexist, anti-Asian sentiment. We reject this racism, xenophobia, and hate and stand with those who have been harmed by all forms of anti-Asian sentiments and acts.

We call on all members of our community to openly condemn ill-informed, biased perspectives, violence, hate and discrimination.

COVID-19: In-Person Services and Programs Suspended

Our offices at 23 Grange Road, 720 Spadina Avenue and 6075 Yonge Street are temporarily closed in response to the Province’s COVID-19 announcement on January 3, 2022. Our counsellors are available to help by phone, by email and online.

All in-person programming has been temporarily suspended. All online programs continue to be available.

We provide a range of free counselling, programs and services specifically designed for older adults 55+.

Daily Life Assistance

If you’re 55 or older, we’re here to help you:

  • Understand the services and supports available to make your life easier
  • Navigate the application process for Old Age Security and other income supports
  • Prepare Toronto Community Housing Annual Rent Renewals
  • Obtain government documents, including Ontario Health Card, Social Insurance Number, Driver’s License, Marriage and Birth Certificates
  • Access other needed services
  • File your Income Tax
  • Complete forms

We provide:

  • Translation of documents
  • Information and referrals to other services, e.g., health, legal, financial

Seniors Digital Connection

Seniors Digital Connection is a free program that facilitates seniors’ autonomy and helps seniors stay connected by teaching them how to use basic technology, promote independent living, and maintain social contact.
