Piano Teacher
Biography
Shirley Au was born and raised in Hong Kong. She started her classical music training at the age of 4 and received her Associate Diploma in Piano Performance from the Trinity College London (ATCL) in 2014. Since then, she has taught private piano lessons and music classes to students of all ages and abilities. As a music educator, she earned her Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Music (EdUHK, 2020) with distinction in teaching field experience and registered as a qualified schoolteacher (Primary/Secondary) in Hong Kong. In 2021, she graduated with a Master of Arts in Music in the CUHK with her recital at the Lee Hysan Concert Hall. She has studied under the guidance of Prof. Nancy Loo, Dr. Amy Sze and Dr. Ng Sze. Ms. Au also actively participates in different music groups and events as an all-rounded musician. She has been invited as the performing guest (collaborative pianist) for the opening ceremony of the InSEA Asia Regional Congress, Hong Kong 2018 and the 7th World Chinese Arts Education Symposium. Additionally, she has been engaged in professional mixed/female choirs, handbells ensemble, recorder bands. Shirley Au is now continuing her life-long music education journey in Canada and pursuing her OCT certification. She is a freelance musician and is thrilled to be a piano teacher at University Settlement.
