The application for our annual Investing in our Community Scholarship Award is available now! This scholarship aims to recognize exceptional volunteerism and contribution to helping our communities grow. Candidates who volunteer with University Settlement, live in the Greater Toronto Area, are over the age of 17 and will attend an educational institution or training program in the fall as a domestic student are encouraged to apply.

In the month of May, University Settlement will be running a Masters Swim Trial Program!

This program is for both recreational and competitive athletes, 18 years or older.

Practice Times will be as follows:
Tuesdays from 7:00-8:00am
Thursdays from 7:00-8:30pm

Last week was National Volunteer Week. To celebrate, we had cake, treats, and handed out small tokens of appreciation at all of our locations. Students from St. Joseph’s College School did a wonderful job helping us prepare the packages.

We couldn’t do what we do without our dedicated volunteers. Thank you!

The Annual Spring Swim Meet is happening this Sunday, April 17 from 12:45-4:30 pm. If you are in the neighbourhood come by and cheer for our competitors!!

Recreational Swim and Afternoon Length Swim will be CANCELED on that day.

As many of you may have noticed, Grange Park is under construction – mud, protective fences, and tractors are everywhere. But what you may not know is that a huge revitalization project is underway, and the results will be worth the wait.

The revitalization project will ensure the preservation of the park’s history while creating an inviting environment for the community. Renovations should finish by summer 2017. Here are some of the biggest changes we can expect:

  • Larger playground for kids
  • New play area for dogs
  • More grass and flowers
  • New seating
  • Fewer fences
  • New lighting
  • New washrooms
  • More Trees

The men’s AND women’s change rooms will be CLOSED for emergency repairs to the drains on Wednesday March 23 from 7 am to 3:30 pm. There will be NO access to the pool as a result.

Please note: Members may use the Fitness Centre, but will have to use the washrooms on the main floor to change.

We received some wonderful entries for our Black History Month Drawing Contest. Celine was selected as the winner for her drawing of Portia White, the first Black Canadian concert singer to win international renown. Celine did a great job and was awarded a $25 Indigo gift card.
