May is Asian Heritage Month!
The Senior’s Group at University Settlement is holding events throughout the month, including open houses for some of our programs. Classes include: Tai Chi Kung Fu Fan, Mandarin Singing, Tai Chi Chi Kung, Tai Chi, Line Dance, and Senior’s Dance.
We’ll be hosting events throughout the month, so come on by! Everyone is welcome.

The application for our annual Investing in our Community Scholarship Award is available now! This scholarship aims to recognize exceptional volunteerism and contribution to helping our communities grow. Candidates who volunteer with University Settlement, live in the Greater Toronto Area, are over the age of 17 and will attend an educational institution or training program in the fall as a domestic student are encouraged to apply.

It’s that time of year again!
Join the staff and volunteers of University Settlement, the AGO, and OCAD at the annual spring cleanup of Grange Park on Friday, April 17th, from 2 to 4 pm.
We will gather in front of our building (at the south end of the park) to distribute gloves and garbage bags. The City Parks department will also lend us a few rakes and some paper bags to clear up the dead leaves – this will make a big difference!
The rain date for the cleanup is Friday May 1st but let’s hope…
University Settlement facilities will be CLOSED for the Easter holiday on
Friday, April 3 and Monday, April 6.
Regular hours will resume on Tuesday, April 17th.
The Healthy Lifestyle Workshop is for parents and guardians of children 0 to 6 years old conducted by students from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto.
Topics include interactive fitness and healthy eating for parents and their kids.

It is with great sadness that the University Settlement Volunteer team announces the passing of Michael Tse. Micheal, or Master Tse as many call him, was one of University Settlement’s Tai Chi instructors who volunteered his time for more than 20 years. He rose to the rank of Tai Chi Master quickly, teaching all who attended his early morning class. During his 20 year position he taught seniors from every walk of life the benefits of practicing tai-chi, inspiring community members and staff, alike.
