Biography

Felix Flores is a violinist, teacher, and arts administrator based in Toronto, Ontario. As a professional violinist, Felix received training at the Vienna Conservatory in Austria and he later earned his Bachelor’s degree at Humber College, where he studied under two of Toronto’s prominent violinists Drew Jurecka and Rebekah Wolkstein.

As a versatile performer, composer, and arranger, Felix has worked across a wide spectrum of genres, including Classical, Tango, Latin, Jazz, and Contemporary music. He is an active member of El Ceibo, an ensemble dedicated to Argentinian folk music. Through innovative arrangements that blend jazz elements with authentic folk traditions, El Ceibo highlights the rhythms, harmonies, and melodies of Argentina’s diverse regions. The group has been featured by the Toronto International Jazz Festival (OLG First Plays, 2021), CBC Radio 1 (Big City, Small World, 2022), and Jazz FM (Café Latino, 2022), and has performed at venues such as the Living Arts Centre. Felix’s performance career includes extensive touring with Mexico’s Youth National Symphony Orchestra, serving as concertmaster for productions of Evita and Beauty and the Beast at the Meridian Arts Centre (2017), and appearances at the “Muzik Zentral” festival under the direction of Juilliard graduate Christopher Collins Lee. He has also contributed to community-focused initiatives, notably as a violinist in Dr. Barry Harry’s We Are One Jazz Project, a music program that provides music opportunities to at-risk students aged eight through thirteen, strengthening community bonds by using jazz music as a force for social change.

In addition to performing, Felix is an experienced administrator. He was part of the founding team of the T.U. Jazz Festival, now in its 11th edition, where he served as an administrative assistant and later a stage manager. He has collaborated with innumerable colleagues and partners in the live entertainment industry and participated in many artistic projects supported by the Toronto Arts Council, Ontario Arts Council, and FACTOR.

Today, Felix continues to share his passion for music as a violin and viola teacher, as well as a chamber music coach at University Settlement’s Music & Arts School, where he currently serves as Acting Managing Director. A dedicated advocate for community music, he believes in its power to inspire, nurture, and create meaningful opportunities that make the arts accessible to all.
