Biography

An experienced educator, composer, and arranger, Alberto has a passion for teaching and a wide-range of international musical experience to draw on.

Alberto had his first musical experience in his hometown of Siracusa, Sicily, as a saxophonist in one of the local award-winning youth wind orchestras: Gruppo Strumentale Orfeo.

After this, he moved to Milan to attend the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Classical Saxophone with Daniele Comoglio in 2017. In addition to the study of saxophone, he has undertaken harmony, counterpoint and composition studies with Elisabetta Brusa and Paolo Rimoldi under whose guidance he obtained a further Master’s Degree in Composition.

Alberto has been teaching for more than 10 years specializing in saxophone, as well as in music theory, ear training and music ensemble, both privately and in music schools. He has worked with students of all ages, backgrounds, musical inclinations and personalities, which has allowed him to create an individualized teaching method.

Alongside these educational activities, Alberto has also worked as an arranger, composer and music engraver. His compositions and arrangements are included in the records: Maschere, Five Sax at the Movies, Musica Ficta and Il Canto di una Valle – 50 anni.

He works as a composer and arranger with the publishing house Impronta Edition – UG where he has published the String Quartet of Giuseppe Verdi arranged for saxophone quartet and LO!, an original piece for solo alto saxophone.

Alberto always encourages students to share with him their favourite songs and artists, so that he can adjust the repertoire to their interests. As a composer and arranger, sometimes he even creates transcriptions or original pieces for them.

He easily adapts to preexistent music school’s curricula if necessary, and has prepared students for music certifications within the ABRSM syllabus. He firmly believes in a coherent teaching structure that helps students understand the step by step process to progress, while aIso cultivating a serene and cheerful environment to let this happen naturally.
